LIMITED LATE MODEL RULES 1-12-2010
***All cars must be Tech Inspected the first night
the car is at our track.***
WHEEL BASE
1. Minimum
wheel base average is 103".
2. Rear suspension configuration is optional, but no
devices allowed of any kind that are designed to change the wheel base of the
car
while in competition will be permitted.
Control arms with rubber bushings are not permitted on the rear of the
car.
3. No
Traction control devices allowed.
4. Only one shock and steel spring per wheel. One dummy shock or one limiting device
on left rear only. No remote
reservior shocks
will be allowed on any corner of the suspension. No Shrader valves, or gas relief/refill ports.
ENGINE
1. All engine casting number stamped on the engine will be
left on the block at the bell housing
area.
2. No welding, grinding or epoxying of block numbers will
be allowed. Block numbers will be stamped by the tech inspectors if needed.
3. Spec
Heads: The spec head
for GM is a GM bowtie part number 10134392, with casting number
14011034. For Ford check track for numbers. This head will be allowed, no modifications
except
surfacing and 3
angle valve job. Maximum valve size
2.055 intake 1.60 exhaust, all engines.
4. No aluminum blocks, heads or dry sump systems will be
allowed. Engine must be self
starting. Aluminum water pumps allowed.
5. Engines must have stock crankshaft stroke for engine
block used. (3.480 max on Chevy and
3.50 max on Fords).
6. No intermarriage of engines will be allowed. After-market harmonic balancers are
allowed. No mushroom or roller lifters
allowed.
Maximum lifter diameter GM
engine is .874. Lifter must be 100%
steel.
7. Stock or roller rocker arms are optional. No stud girdles. Screw-in or pinned rocker studs allowed. No roller cams.
No shaft mounted rocker arms on GM or Ford Models.
8. Battery operated ignitions only. Electronic ignition systems are permitted,
but must be mounted in stock location and maintain
the same firing order as
factory produced engine. No crank
triggered ignitions, MSD 6AL or 6T ignition box only.
No other after-market distributors, MSD or ignition boxes
allowed. May use ONE 12 volt 6 Cell standard production
design battery, with only one battery used for both starting and ignition systems. Alternators optional but must be
12 Volt
standard design. Boone County
Raceway reserves the right to exchange ignition boxes or RPM chips at any
times.
9. No
titanium engine parts permitted at all, except titanium valve spring retainers.
10. No
engine may have more than 360 cubic inch placement. Mopar may run 365 cubic inch.
No engine may have more than
11.0 to 1 compression ratio. No
Tolerance. Must
run a flat top piston with no modifications
except: minor valve relief, domes are allowed if ground to
flat top and ring combination,
size, and position
must remain stock.
Chrysler may not run W/2 heads and Fords may not run Cleveland heads.
11. GM 602 and 604 Crate Motors allowed. Crate 604 Chip 6400 weight 2300 lbs. and
Crate 602 Chip 6400 weight 2200 lbs.
Boone County Raceway reserves the right to adjust the weight rule.
1. All competing models are allowed a maximum engine set
back of 8", to be measured from center of the forward most
spark plug hole
to the center of the upper ball joint.
2. All engines must be mounted so that the crankshaft is
within 2 1/2" of the center line of the fixed ball joints.
1. Boone
County Raceway reserves the right to exchange intake manifolds at any time.
SPEC INTAKE-The following
manifolds, stock and untouched, will be mandatory on all engines:
GM-Edelbrock
Torker II #5001 or #2101
FORD
WINDSOR-Edelbrock Torker II #5081 or #2181
FORD
CLEVELAND-Edelbrock Torker II #2665-4 or #2750-2
MOPAR-Edelbrock
Torker II #5076 or #2176
The only acceptable carburetor will be the two barrel Holley
#4412, 500 C.F.M. model,
with only the following alterations:
*No
vacuum leaks between air cleaner and intake valves.
*Adapter
and spacer may not exceed 1 1/2".
*Only one maximum 14"
diameter by 4" thick round stock appearing (top & bottom) air
cleaner may be used.
*No
carb hats, air boxes or other air flow devices are allowed.
*No spacer will be allowed
between the bottom of the air cleaner and carburetor. NO TOLERANCE.
*Accelerator pump squirter may
not extend into the area directly above the venturi. This will be used for
teching purposes
and this will be done periodically.
*The
Holley # 4412 may have the air bleed hole enlarged in the throttle
plate only.
1. All cars are required to have a
screen in front of the driver, with a frame and at least 3 vertical bars in the
frame besides the side bar.
2. All cars are required to use a roll cage with at least 3
horizontal bars across the drivers door.
3. All cars will be required to have a
vent window bar and a bar in the center of the roll cage over the drivers head,
or a roof bar
from left front windshield bar to the right main roll cage hoop.
4. All cars will be required to have a bar for the purpose
of protecting the drivers feet.
5. The battery must be mounted between the frame rails and
ahead of the fuel cell.
6. No mirrors allowed.
7. All cars must have window net in drivers door.
8. All belts must be fastened to the frame of the car.
1. Only one radiator for the purpose of cooling water.
2. A
360 degree metal fan shroud will be mandatory.
3. All
radiator screens must be behind the bumper line.
1. Steel
or aluminum wheels will be permitted.
2. Maximum
wheel width is 14", bead-lock wheel is allowed 3/4" maximum.
3. Bead
Locks allowed on all four corners.
4. Rotors or brake drums must be made out of steel. No ceramic or any other coating permitted on surface of rotors or brake drums.
5. No
ceramic or carbon fiber parts allowed anywhere on the car.
6. One
shock spring per wheel except dummy shock on left rear for purpose of
limiting travel.
1. All
competing models must weigh minimum 2,400 lbs. after the race with
driver.
TIRES
2. No alterations, as in, grooving, siping, softening or
conditioning. May use 24 grit sandpaper
only to break
glaze. Tires must durometer test stock,
unaltered at any time.
FUEL AND FUEL CELLS
1. Gasoline only, Racing fuel allowed. No E85.
No performance enhancing additives or scented additives.
Fuel must pass both dialectric meter and
chemical tests. Fuel sample may be
taken from any car at any time.
Penalty
for illegal fuel is disqualification from event and $250 fine-first offense.
2. Commercially
manufactured fuel cells are mandatory.
Maximum fuel cell capacity is 32 gallons.
3. Fuel
cell cannot extend below bottom of rear end.
4. All
fuel cells must be encased in a metal container.
5. All
fuel cells must be secured to the frame of the car and must be mounted in frame
work.
6. All cars must have a fuel cell guard that is mounted
separate of the fuel cell and mounted to the frame of the car.
7. Fuel cell guard must be made of at least 1 1/2"
tubing and must extend to the bottom of
the fuel cell.
8. Racing
fuel cell and a tip over valve MANDATORY.
9. Mechanical fuel pumps ONLY, mounted in stock
location. This means no belt driven or
electric fuel pumps.
CHASSIS AND EXHAUST
1. All headers must have collectors on them and must exit
under the car and point toward the rear of the car.
Round tube headers only.
Must remain dual exhaust. No
crossovers, 180 degree, zoomies, or Tri Y headers
2. All
front suspensions must be of A-frame type.
CLUTCH, FLYWHEEL AND BELL HOUSING
1. High
speed multiple disc clutches are permitted.
2. All
cars must be able to get in and out of gear with the engine running and
standing still.
3. All
cars must be equipped with a flywheel and an operable starter.
4. Aluminum bell housing will be allowed, but if the
clutch is mounted inside, then the bell housing must have
scattershield similar
to what the modifieds run (270 degree, 4" x 1/8" shield around flex
plate or flywheel).
1. OEM production 3 or 4 speed transmissions that are
catalogued through dealer channels will be permitted.
Brinn, Bert, Falcon circle track transmissions are permitted.
2. All
transmissions must have at least 2 speeds forward and reverse in working order
at all times.
3. No
5 speed or overdrive transmissions allowed.
4. All transmissions must bolt directly to rear of the bellhousing
which bolts directly to rear of engine block.
5. Steel drive shafts only, universal joints that are
similar in design to standard production will be allowed.
6. All
drive shafts must be painted white.
7. All cars must have a 360 degree hoop toward the front of
the drive shaft, made of at least
1/4" x 2" steel strap.
8. It
is recommended to have a drive shaft hoop built our of 4" or 5" by
6" long round tubing.
9. No
open tube or cambered rear ends allowed.
10. The
rear tread width can be no wider than the front tread width (left and right
side).
1. No
rear body panels.
2. Minimum
panel width 36". No holes or
louvers allowed. Car number is
required.
3. Bodies
must be mounted in a similar manner to stock appearing.
4. Stock appearing production manufactured nose panels
only. No wedge noses will be
allowed.
Stock appearing nose panels
will have a maximum width of 72".
The length of the nose pieces for
all models will be
45" from the
center of the hub to the front of the nose.
All cars must have a hook or chain on front for towing purposes.
5. Refer
to the enclosed picture for all body measurements.
6. All cars will have a maximum rear spoiler height of
8". This will be measured from the
deck and will measure all spoiler material
7. All cars will have a maximum rear spoiler width of 72”.
HINT: Make sure your spoiler does not extend past your rear
bumper. Cars will be allowed to use 3
spoiler braces that are 18"
at the base and no higher than 3" at the
front being no higher that the spoiler at the back or extending past
spoiler.
Braces are allowed a 1/2" break in them.
8. Roofs
may be made of steel or aluminum but must meet the body specs and approved by
official.
9. All roof panels must have front and rear roof posts.
Rear roof posts will be a minimum of
12" and a maximum
of 36" at the base of panel, unless using an
opera window. Cars running opera window
will have two rear roof posts,
minimum 1" wide. Left and right side rear roof panels must be the same length and
design
SAFETY
1. All drivers must wear an approved Snell SA2000 or
SA2005 safety helmet at all times that they are racing. Full face helmet,
NO OPEN FACE HELMETS
ALLOWED. Must have a full
shield with tear offs recommended. Fireproof
gloves and neck braces mandatory.
Solid center steering wheel recommended.
2. All cars must have seat belts and shoulder harness
securely fastened to the frame or roll cage.
They must be of the approved
racing type with quick-release
aircraft-type hook-ups. No stock type
seat belts allowed. Belts must be
2" wide (3" recommended)
shoulder and 3" wide lap (crotch required). Shoulder harnesses must be securely mounted
to the roll cage no higher than 2" above
should level. Belts no older than 3 years old and sternum
belt.
3. Firesuits of at least fire-retardant material will be
mandatory (fire resistant recommended).
Used suits will be subject to approval
by track officials. Sleeves must be rolled down.
4. All
roll bars must have padding in the drivers compartment.
5. A protective screen is required on 2/3 of the windshield
opening, starting on drivers side, supported by a minimum of 3 equally spaced
braces.
6. All added weight will be required to be in block form of
no less than 5 lbs. and no more than 50 lbs. and be securely bolted
to the
frame of the car with at least two 1/2" bolts securing each weight. All weight must be painted white with the
car number on it.
7. Air
cleaner must be on the car at all times while on the track.
8. Batteries
must be securely fastened and not in the fuel compartment.
9. Pit
crew outfits are recommended.
10. No
in-car radios, computer or cameras are allowed.
11. Window
net on drivers side is mandatory.
APPEARANCE
1. Numbering on cars: Car numbers must be 18" tall and 3" wide
and must be located on both sides of the car.
An
18" tall roof number is mandatory, the base of the number should
be on the passenger side of the roof facing the grandstands.
2. If the number is unreadable you will be notified to make
the necessary changes. If the number is
still unreadable you will not be scored.
3. Car numbers can have a maximum of 2 numbers and 1
letter. If possible, we would like to
avoid letters
unless there is duplication of numbers. The size, color and style of
numbers must be adequate to
permit prompt identification by officials at
all times.
4. All
cars must be properly cleaned and washed before each night of racing.
EXCEPTIONS: (IMCA, NASCAR AND LATE MODEL)
1. No
aluminum blocks and/or 18 degree heads allowed.
2. 2
barrel carburetor only. Holley #4412
500 C.F.M. (refer to carburetor rules).
3. Magnetos,
dry sumps, stud girdles and belt drive accessories allowed.
4. Weight-2550
minimum.
5. No softening, conditioning, siping, or grooving allowed.
May use 24 grit sandpaper only to break glaze.
6. If you are running any of the above exceptions,
your car will have to marked with weight of 2550 on
left front fender.
If not marked, you will be subject to disqualification.
1. All race protests must be placed with a tech official in
writing no later than 5 minutes after the A feature.
2. The protest fee is $100, only one item may be protested
per event and must be given to an official along with the written protest.
The car in protest will be checked after the
main event. If the car in protest is
found illegal, it will lose all points and money for that night
and protester
will be returned his/her $100. If the
car is found to be legal, the $100 is given to the car in protest.
3. Drivers only may make a protest and must have competed
in the “A” feature. Track officials
have the right
to inspect any car at any time at no charge.
4. Track
officials have the right to reject any protest.
5. Serious
technical violations will result in the same penalties as a claim refusal. Illegal parts will be marked and kept by the
track.
